Based on the thesis Transplanting the Seed written by Susan Bassnett,this article makes a brief mention of the controversy of untranslatability and translatability in translation of ancient Chinese poetry into English.

This article explores the aesthetic requirements of ancient Chinese poetry translation,the aesthetic principles of cultural communication,and the correlation between them,then,puts forward the viewpoint that the aesthetic requirements of ancient Chinese poetry translation should be guided by the aesthetic principles of cultural communication and proposes some specific methods.
