  ﹝出华严经大疏第三卷﹞
  [一、大],大即常体得名,常遍为义。谓旷兼无际,体不变易,竖穷三际,横亘十方也。(三际者,即过去、现在、未来三世也。)
  [二、方],方即就法得名,轨持为义。谓双持体相,十界常规,能令一切众生师轨执而生解也。(双持体相者,体即是性,谓持性与相也。十界者,佛界、菩萨界、缘觉界、声闻界、天界、人界、修罗界、饿鬼界、畜生界、地狱界也。)
  [三、广],广即从用得名,包博为义。谓称性而周,用无有尽,包容法界,普遍十方也。
  [四、佛],佛即就人得名,觉照为义。谓觉斯玄妙,开解一切,悟大夜之重昏,朗万法之幽邃也。
  [五、华],华即从喻得名,感果严身为义。谓行敷荣,心华开觉,万行圆成,众德备体也。
  [六、严],严即功用得名,资妆为义。谓旷劫修成众法,悉备资广大之体,用妆真应之佛身也。(劫,梵语具云劫波,华言分别时节。)
  [七、经],经即能诠得名,贯摄为义。谓蕴无穷之性相,注无竭之涌泉,贯玄凝之妙义,摄无边之海会也。
