描述TrichurusTownsend针叶苋属，苋科，仅有1种针叶苋T.monsoniae(L.f.）Townsend，分布于越南、泰国、印度及斯里兰卡，我国海南岛亦有。多年生草本；叶及枝对生，偶有轮生；花两性，为腋生或顶生穗状花序；花被片4，披针状钻形，宿存；雄蕊4，基部稍连合，与三角形或四角形的退化雄蕊互生；花柱极短；柱头2裂；子房有1垂生胚珠。果为一顶端盖裂的胞果；种子干燥时在种脐对面有窠状凹陷。
