| 徽商 中国古代商人集团。以居于徽州（今安徽歙县、黟县和江西婺源一带）而得名。又名新安商人、歙商、休宁商、黟商、婺源商等。大致起源于宋代，明清时期发展到与西商并雄，成为当时主要的商业资本集团之一。徽州物产丰富，为徽州商业活动提供了物质条件，且徽州位于东南经济区苏浙中心，交通便利，亦有利于徽州人从事商业活动。徽商的主要活动范围在长江流域，也到达山东、河南、陕西、河北、辽东、广东、福建等地，以及一些边疆海岛和少数民族地区，有的甚至营商海外。 徽商经营的行业十分广泛，以盐业为最重要。明清时期江淮和浙海食盐的贩卖，几为徽商垄断，粮食、茶叶、木材、典当、棉布、丝织品、陶瓷、书籍、墨砚以及仓库旅馆业和海外贸易等，徽商亦插足其间。有的还兼营行商、坐贾、牙行，一人兼营数种行业。此外，徽商也兼营金融业务，接受存款，因此资金比较充足。明清时期，徽州商业资本在一定程度上开始摆脱传统的商业资本与土地资本相结合的道路，不少富商因经商盈利而移居他乡，并投资于铁冶、浆染以及陶瓷等业。徽商以殖盐为第一生业，而盐又是封建国家的专卖商品。因此，从明代中叶起，他们已成为豪富特权商人。随着政府对工商业限制的加剧，为得到政府的庇护，徽商日趋缙绅化，其商业资本亦成为国家财政的组成部分。徽商还带有浓厚的地域性和家族性。其资本宗族合伙，活动亦往往是全乡经营、集团移徙，且热衷于创办同乡会或会馆等，以保护本地区商人的利益。其积蓄往往用于乡里的慈善事业。他们广泛经营典当业，发放子母钱，进行高利贷盘剥。还役使众多的僮仆、伴当，这些人有的经营商业，有的护院保镖，对扩大徽商资本起了较大作用。清代中期之后，徽商因失去政治庇护而逐渐衰落。 |
