| 阿利（1885～1955） Allee，Warder Clyde 美国动物学家。1885年6月5日生于美国印第安纳州布卢明顿附近，1955年3月18日卒于佛罗里达。1908 年在印第安纳的厄勒姆学院获学士学位，1910年和1912年在芝加哥大学先后获硕士学位和博士学位。1910年任该校动物学助教，1914年为俄克拉何马城大学副教授。1915年为雷克福里斯特学院教授。1921年任芝加哥大学副教授，1925年任教务长，1928年任教授，1950年后为名誉退职教授。1950～1955年为佛罗里达大学生物学教授会主任。他是美国生态学家V.E.谢尔福德的学生，早年研究池塘动物群落演替，随后研究海洋无脊椎动物生态学。他一生以研究动物的社会行为和集群而闻名。著有《动物的集群》、《动物的生活和社会增长》、《动物的社会生活》等书。他发现集群能提高动物的存活力，生态学中的阿利规律，说明中等的适当密度对种群最有利的原理 。1949年以阿利为首的5个生态学家合编的《动物生态学原理》一书的出版标志着动物生态学已成熟为一门独立的学科。1929年，阿利任美国生态学会主席。1942年为美国科学促进协会会员，美国昆虫学会会员、美国科学和技术科学院院士。1930～1955年他一直任《生理动物学》杂志的主编。1944～1950年任《不列颠百科全书》动物学方面论文的校订委员会主席。 |
