      中国清代末期盛宣怀所创办的上海南洋公学的一个附设机构。光绪二十三年 (1897) 与南洋公学同时成立。1898~1901年在张元济任院长期间,曾出版了严复翻译的《支那教案论》和《原富》(现通译《国富论》)二书,此外,仅限于编辑学校教科书。至1902年才开始翻译各国有关政治、历史、科技方面的书籍。1903年停办。
