The first 48 sentences were the original words of Qu Yuan; the following sentences to the end were from Melancholy of Pannao, written by Yang Xiong during the reign of Emperor Cheng in Han Dynasty.
《悲回风》由两大部分组成,从开头至"宁溘死以流亡兮,不忍为此之常愁"共48句为屈原原作;自"孤子吟而泪兮"至结尾为汉成帝时扬雄所作《畔牢愁》。
