The “bas bitig” and the Chinese characters “元契(yuanqi)” which occurred in Huihu contracts are taken as synonyms by Yamada Nobuo, a Japanese scholar, but he can’t decide whether “元契”is an expression in Chinese or not.
回鹘文契约中出现过“babitig”与汉字“元契”,山田信夫认为这两个词是同义词,但是,他不清楚汉文中是否有“元契”这样的词。
