【来源】
为唇形科植物朱唇的全草。
【植物形态】
朱唇 一年生或多年生草本，高约1米，全体被白毛。根茎横走，半木质，褐色，有纤细须根。茎四棱形，被白色刚毛。单叶对生，卵形，或三角形，长3.5～5厘米，宽1.6～3厘米，先端渐尖，基部心形至截形，边缘有钝锯齿。花集成多轮顶生的总状花序，海轮有花6～10朵，花序长14～20厘米；花萼筒状钟形，绿色或带紫红色，外面及齿缘有白色长毛，2唇，上唇全缘，下唇2裂；花冠深红色，长20～25毫米，上唇直立，先端有凹，下唇长倍于上唇，3裂；雄蕊2，花丝长伸出；花柱与雄蕊等长。小坚果褐色，长圆形。花期7～8月。果期10月。 生于田边、路旁潮湿草地，或栽培。
【采集】
夏、秋采集。切断晒干。
【性味】
辛涩微苦，凉。
【功用主治】
凉血止血，清热利湿。治妇女血崩，高热，腹痛不适。
【用法与用量】
内服：煎汤，2～3钱。
