BEIJING, Oct. 29 (Xinhuanet) -- Virgin Records is celebrating its 40th anniversary with an exhibition open since Thursday. Free to the public, the show is homage to the label’s most iconic moments.

Established by British entrepreneur Richard Branson in 1972, Virgin Records has become a staple part of the British music industry, signing acts as varied as the Sex Pistols and Genesis. After Branson sold the label to EMI in 1992, Virgin continued to innovate, with big names including The Verve and The Spice Girls, and more recently Emeli Sande, on their books.

The event - called 40 Years of Disruptions - runs at London’s Victoria House until October 29th.
