(术语)佛法之护摩有二种,择地作坛,以世火烧共物乳木,为外护摩,自身为坛,以如来之智火烧烦恼之薪,为内护摩。是云出世护摩,世谛护摩,事护摩,理护摩。而作世谛之事护摩,亦添理性之内观也。大日经秘密曼陀罗品曰:“护摩有二种:所谓内及外。”大日经疏十五曰:“阿阇梨即作内护摩。若浅行人即作外法,而究竟为内法因。”瑜只经疏中曰:“或直用内,能得成就,若直用外,不得成就。故作外法,必作内法。”大日经疏八曰:“若真言行者,但作世谛护摩,不解此中密意,则与韦陀火祀不相滥耶,故译者兼智之名,庶令浅深二释义用兼举。”
