| 温柔敦厚 中国古代儒家的诗教传统。最早见于《礼记·经解》：“温柔敦厚，诗教也。……其为人也，温柔敦厚而不愚，则深于诗教者也。”唐代孔颖达《礼记正义》解释说：“温，谓颜色温润；柔，谓性情和柔。诗依违讽谏，不指切事情，故曰温柔敦厚诗教也。”即作家要性情和柔，可以讽谏，但要“怨而不怒”，“止乎礼义”，保持“中和”，以委婉之词寄寓讽谏之意。这一诗教传统在中国古典诗歌创作和理论上有过十分消极的作用。从创作上说，它作为一种规范，极大地束缚了作家的思想，注重委婉含蓄，而往往不能充分揭露和抨击现实；从理论上说，它作为一种艺术信条，也束缚了诗论者的思想，往往对具有民主性的进步诗歌作出错误的评价。但由于它要求“主文而谲谏”，因而在促进诗歌比兴、含蓄等表现手法的运用上也有有益的影响。因此，温柔敦厚说除了伦理原则的意义外，后世有时也引申为艺术原则。 |
