性别定型(sex typing)两性个体获得相应性别的心理行为特征。(l)两性的心理行为特征是指:理想化的性别特征，是由社会设置的性别规范;刻板印象的性别特征，是人们把有关性别群体的一般看法推及十该性别群体的成员;性别定型的比别特征，即两性个体实际获得和具有的特征，这在不同的个体之间有着较大的差异，可通过特定的测量方法去测定。(2)两性个体一出生仅具有遗传的生物差异，这为其形成性别的心理行为特征提供了自然前提。在此基础上，两性个体在社会的影响下(如社会文化、大众传播、父母抚养等)，通过模仿学习、认知发展等自我社会化，掌握着两性不同的活动方式，从而使自己归入两性不同的类型，获得相应性别的心理行为特征。由于生活条件，接受的教育和自我发展各不相同，使每一个体的性别定型化进程也存在差异。 (葛奋嘉撰高玉祥审)
