为小麦磨取面粉后筛下的种皮，植物形态详"小麦"条。
【性味】
甘，凉。 ①《本草拾遗》："甘，寒，无毒。" ②《日华子本草》："凉。" ③《医林纂要》："咸，寒。"
【归经】
《得配本草》："入手阳明经。"
【功用主治】
治虚汗，盗汗，泄利，糖尿病，口腔炎，热疮，折伤，风湿痹痛，脚气。 ①《本草拾遗》："和面作饼，止泄利，调中去热，健人。以醋拌蒸热，袋盛，熨腰脚伤折处，止痛散血。" ②《日华子本草》："治时疾热疮，汤火疮烂，扑损伤折，瘀血，醋炒贴窨。" ③《纲目》："醋蒸熨手足风湿痹痛，寒湿脚气，互易至汗出。末服止虚汗。"
【用法与用量】
内服：入散剂。外用：醋炒包熨或研末调敷。
【选方】
①治产后虚汗：小麦麸、牡蛎等分。为末，以猪肉汁调服二钱。日二服。(《胡氏妇人方》) ②治走气作痛：酽醋拌麸皮，炒热，袋盛熨之。(《生生编》) ③治小便尿血：面麸炒香，以肥猪肉蘸食之。(《集玄方》) ④治小儿眉疮：小麦麸炒黑，研末，酒调敷之。(《纲目》)
【临床应用】
①治疗口腔炎 用小麦麸烧灰2份，冰片1份，混合研细搽患处，每天2～3次。治疗1OO余例，有效率约95%，一般3～5天即愈。 ②治疗糖尿病 以6／10的麦麸，4／10的面粉，再加适量的食油、鸡蛋、蔬菜拌和蒸熟代饮食，随病情的好转逐步减少麦麸含量。在整个疗程中不给其他药物及营养物质。据13例中、重型患者观察，3例血糖下降至140毫克%以下，7例降至180毫克%以下，治疗后尿糖从++++.或+++转为阴性者10例，所需时间最短4天，最长为98天，一般在1个月内转为阴性；全身情况皆显著好转，体重增加，因糖尿病引起的神经炎也见消失。
