铁路物资管理铁路是大量使用各类物资的部门，它的物资供应实行以部门为主的管理体制。这主要是由于铁路部门的特点所决定的。中国在全路设有铁道部、铁路局(包括厂、院校和公司)、基层单位三级物资供应管理机构。铁道部一级的物资供应管理机构为中国铁路物资总公司。铁路局一级的物资供应管理机构属企事业单位的物资机构、在局(分局、工程处)内一般设有物资处(科)统一管理本部门的物资供应业务。另外还设有材料(总)厂，具体组织物资的供应业务。部属工厂和院校也均设有自己的物资供应管理机构。铁道部所属的铁道机车车辆工业总公司、铁路工程总公司、铁道建筑总公司、铁道部通信信号公司都设有相应的物资供应机构。铁路局和铁路工程局的基层单位比较分散，因而各个基层单位(站、段、队、厂等)也设有自己的物资供应管理机构。铁路部门所需的物资除通过以上三级物资机构组织供应外，也可通过路外其他渠道组织供应。铁路各级物资供应机构在不影响路内供应任务的前提下，除国家分配的物资外，也可承担路外的物资供应任务。
