姑姑冠 冠名，古代蒙古贵族妇女所戴，或称“故姑”、“顾姑”、“罟罟”、“固姑”、“姑姑”，皆一物异名，取其音同。《长春真人西游记》：“妇人冠以桦皮，高二尺许，往往以皂褐笼之，富者以红绡，其末如鹅鸭，故名‘故故’，大忌人触，出入庐帐须低回。” 姑姑冠的制作方法，彭大雅《黑鞑事略》说得较具体：“姑姑之制，用画（桦？）木为骨，包以红绢，金帛顶之。上用四五尺柳枝或铁打成枝，包以青毡。其向上人则用我朝翠花或五彩帛饰之。令其飞动。以下人则用野鸡毛。”甘肃敦煌莫高窟和安西榆林窟等元代壁画，传世作品南熏殿旧藏《历代帝后像》中，都有姑姑冠的具体描绘，可与文献记载相印证。
