By comparing and analyzing the common and distinct character of "Death"euphemism in Chinese and English, the article probes into connections between language and culture, reveals the deep cultural implication contained in this language phenomenon.

From the perspective of translator\'s subjectivity,based on contrast studies of translation in death euphemisms in "Hong Lou Meng"(Dream of the Red Chamber),this paper has discussed the factors in the process of translation,such as cultural orientation and translation purpose that restrain the translator\'s subjectivity and effect the decision-making of the translator in translating strategies.
