抗日战争前南京金陵大学文学院主办的培养研究生的机构。该班吸收大学文、史、哲学科的毕业生入学研究，旨在造就高级国学专门人才，为当时东南地区各大学之首创。第一期于1934年秋季开办，招收学生十六名（其中女生六名）。按该班章程，学生入学后，各人自选一课题，然后收集资料，进行专题研究。文学院指定学有专长的导师加以指导。曾担任该班导师的有：胡小石、黄季刚、汪东、胡翔令、吴瞿安、刘衡如、刘继萱等,皆为当时知名学者。导师为学生开设专修课,如老子、刘章史学、程瑶田考古学、史汉文学、二窗词释、李怀民重订中晚唐主客图等,并聘请校外名家作专题讲座,如佛学大师欧阳竞无曾为该班作何为佛法之究竟目的的学术讲座。研究班力戒浮躁学风，深得东南学界称道。学生的研究论文分为小学、史学、文学三种，汇编为丛刊。研究班共办两期，每期学习期限为一年。毕业学生共三十人，大都任教于各大学。
