      解释诗词曲中常见语辞的书。张相撰。张相精通文史,于诗词曲尤为娴熟。本书凡6卷,汇集唐宋金元明人诗词曲中常用的特殊语辞,如"须"、"则"、"却"、"且"、"镇"、"厮"、"解道"、"怎生"、"则箇"、"剗地"、"端的"、"兀自"之类,详加引证,解释其意义和用法。此类常见的语辞大都是历史上当时通俗的口语,或见于诗歌,或见于词曲,或见于戏文传奇,向来没有专书作过解释,而且一词不一定只有一个意思,要理解确切,势必要综览各家诗词戏曲作品,探求其文意,揣度其语气,寻索其确实的含义。设若索得一解,又必须施用于各篇都能通晓无碍才行,这就不是一件容易的事了。本书作者用了8年的时间专心从事这项工作写定成书,标目537,附目600有余。这对研究唐以来文学作品的贡献极大。在此以前,黎锦熙曾在北京师范大学讲授过"近代语研究"一课,可惜没有成书遗留下来。
  
  张相在这部著作的前面所写的叙言里谈到他探求词义的经过:一曰体会声韵,二曰辨认字形,三曰玩绎章法,四曰揣摩情节,五曰比照意义。而比照意义,又从异义相对、同义互文、前后相应、文从省略、取异文相印证等几种方法参互比较,这在研究词义方面比清代刘淇的《助字辨略》、王引之的《经传释词》用心更加细密。现代很多研究近代汉语语词意义的人都或多或少受其启示,全书的缺点在于有些义项分别较繁琐,有些语辞字同而音异者没有标注读音,未免美中不足。此书在作者谢世后于1952年始由中华书局印行。
