头人

    中国民主改革前，一些少数民族地区首领的汉语称谓。藏族称部巴，哈萨克族称巴斯，佤族称扩或涵痕，等等。一般多为世袭，也有由土司或地方政府指派，由当地富户霸居，或通过当地传统的选举形式产生。头人有大小之分，职权各族各地也有所不同，但除阶级分化不明显民族外，头人都享有一定的特权，对人民进行剥削和压迫。在民主改革后，头人的职位和特权均被废除。
