| 斯图姆（1803～1855） Sturm，Charles-Franois 法国数学家。1803年9月29日生于日内瓦 ，1855年12月18日卒于巴黎。幼年攻读古典语，后转学数学，1827年，与D.科拉东合作的关于不可压缩流体的论文获巴黎科学院的数学物理大奖。1829年，解决了自R.笛卡尔时代以来数学家们关心的一个问题——在变量的给定范围内确定实系数代数方程的实根数（即斯图姆定理）。1833年入法国籍。同年，首次考虑了数学物理中出现的二阶常微分方程的特征值与特征函数问题。后与J.刘维尔合作得到若干重要结果。现称二阶常微分方程的边值问题为斯图姆-刘维尔问题。斯图姆在射影几何、曲线和曲面的微分几何以及几何光学方面也有重要工作。 |
