系统中一处或几处的信号传递有时间延迟的系统。蒸气和流体在管道中的流动,电信号在长线上的传递,都有时间延迟。含有这类元件的系统都是时滞系统。对于一个具体控制系统,时滞可能由测量元件或测量过程造成,也可能由控制元件和执行元件造成,或者由它们共同造成。严格地说,控制系统中时滞是普遍存在的,只有大小的不同。时滞系统是指时滞不能忽略的系统。如限于研究具有时滞的线性定常系统,若时滞时间为τ秒,则时滞特性的传递函数为e-τs。时滞系统属于非最小相位系统。(见时滞系统的稳定性)。
