中国人民解放军战斗英雄，优秀指挥员。山东省历城县人。1939年7月参加八路军，1940年6月加入中国共产党。作战英勇顽强，热爱战士,9次负伤,7次不下火线，荣立特等功2次,大功6次,曾被授予"战斗英雄"、"全面英雄"、"模范共产党员"、"模范政治指导员"、"全面功臣"等荣誉称号。1945年在山东临沂孟家村战斗中,带伤参加爆破,把国民党军据点的坚固工事炸开两丈多宽的缺口，为进攻部队打开了通道。1948年任营长时,在锦州战役中,率领部队首先攻入锦州的门户──配水池，血战8小时,经20多次反复激烈的争夺，守住了阵地,最后配合兄弟部队攻占配水池,为解放锦州扫除了障碍。1950年在海南岛登陆战役中，指挥全营攻取了白莲市南山，歼灭国民党军前进指挥所和一个炮兵团。1950年 9月出席中华人民共和国全国战斗英雄代表会议。曾当选为中华人民共和国第二、第三届全国人民代表大会代表和中国共产党第九、第十、第十一届中央候补委员，第十二届中央委员。1985年 8月任中国人民解放军旅大警备区政治委员。
