Cyamopsis  tetragonoloba

   豆科瓜尔豆属的一种。一年生直立草本。茎有5棱。复叶互生;小叶3片,卵圆形,边近全缘或有不规则缺刻。花小,组成腋生的总状花序;萼5裂;花冠蝶形,旗瓣和龙骨瓣白色,翼瓣浅紫色;雄蕊10,连合为单体。荚果线状长圆形,有5条隆起的纵脊,先端有喙。其种子胚乳含瓜尔胶,主要用于石油开采业,配制成水基压裂液,能增加含油地层的渗透性,对提高石油产量有显著效果。此外,瓜尔胶也广泛应用在造纸、纺织、食品、香料、药物及矿冶工业上,瓜尔豆又可食用,青豆供蔬食,种子含蛋白质26%及少量脂肪,营养丰富,可代粮,植株可作饲料及绿肥。
