形态特征子实体中等或较大。菌盖半球形，后渐平展，直径4-7(15)cm，紫色，蓝紫色或淡紫褐色，光滑或被短绒毛，有时凸凹不平。菌肉白色，致密，伤不变色。柄长(3)4.5-8cm，粗1-2(3.5)cm，上下略等粗或基部膨大，蓝紫色，有白色网纹。菌管弯生或离生，在周围凹陷，初期白色，后变淡黄色。管口近圆形，每毫米1-2(3)个。孢子印锈褐色。孢子带淡褐色，椭圆形或纺锤形，平滑，13-18μm×5.5-6.5μm，管侧囊体无色，棒状，有时顶端稍尖细，17.3-39μm×5.2-7μm。

生态习性夏秋季于针栎林中地上单生或群生。
分布地区广东贵州广西四川台湾云南在日本及朝鲜半岛亦有分布
经济用途可食用。此菌味道比较好。生长后期褪色，可近似美味牛肝菌。该菌可抗癌。对白鼠肉瘤180的抑制率和艾氏癌的抑制率均为60。此种是裘维蕃教授发表的牛肝菌新种，与壳斗科树木可能有菌根关系。该菌灰紫或蓝紫菌盖，尤其在幼时边缘具一条灰白色带，柄上具灰白明显网纹以及菌肉白色而与别的种相区别。其味鲜可与美味牛肝菌相媲美。
