  性学名。亦称性力度。性能力因人而异,与年龄有密切关系。其差异与体魄强弱关系不大,体弱者的性能力可能比一个健壮者更强。一个人的天然的性功能力度由许多因素所决定,与激素水平、精神状况、环境条件、遗传基因与文化修养都有关系。有研究指出,凡性功能低的人,其他相应功能也是低的 ,人为的方法只能部分的增强它。值得注意的是,有些人从外表看对性缺乏兴趣,其实性能力很强。性欲强度因人而异,其持续时间亦不相同。有些人性生活到50岁已完全消失,另一部分人则可维持到80多岁,甚至更远。通常认为,青年时代的性生活无度,到老年时性功能易于衰 弱;在青年时期性生活有规律或节欲的人,到老年可保持其性的活力。但此学说近年亦遭到怀疑。有些人感到老之将 至,认为性是多余的,性功能就低下;而感情丰富的人性功能也活跃。
