改变适应不良性思维方式，促使心理障碍好转的一类心理治疗的总称。其基本观点是：认知过程是行为和情感的中介，适应不良性行为及情感与适应不良性认知有关，医生的任务是找出这些不良的认识，并提供学习或训练以矫正这些认知，促使心理障碍好转。它与行为疗法的不同在于不仅重视适应不良性行为的矫正，更重视病人思想和情感的重要性。同精神分析的不同在于，它重视意识过程中的事件而不是潜意识。目前常见的认知治疗包括理性情绪治疗、自我指导训练、问题解决疗法等。这些方法主要用于抑郁性障碍、焦虑性障碍及饮食障碍等。
