【植物形态】
西府海棠(《群芳谱》),又名:小果海棠、八棱海棠、实海棠 小乔木,高3~5米。幼枝疏生柔毛,老时光滑。叶椭圆状长圆形,长5~10厘米,宽2~4厘米,先端渐尖,基部楔形,边缘有细锯齿,上面无毛,下面幼时有毛;叶柄细,长2~4厘米。伞形总状花序,花呈淡红色,有深红晕,直径3~4厘米;花梗长2~3厘米,与萼筒均具短柔毛;萼片5,卵形至长椭圆状卵形,与萼筒等长;花冠5瓣;子房下位,花柱5。梨果近球形,径约1~1.8厘米,红色带黄,基部凹陷,萼脱落或宿存。花期4月。果期9月。 分布辽宁、河北、山西、山东、陕西、甘肃、云南等地,多为栽培。
