又称月季花、
    
现代月季。是通过蔷薇属内种间杂交和长期选育而成的杂交品种群。茎有皮刺。叶为奇数羽状复叶,花大小不一,中国是香水月季、巨花蔷薇、野蔷薇、玫瑰、光叶蔷薇及其变种等品种的故乡,并有悠久的栽培历史。月季性喜阳光、喜肥、较耐旱、最忌积水,宜栽于背风向阳且空气流通的环境。较耐寒,喜富含有机质、通气良好、pH为6.5~6.8的微酸性土壤。修剪方法随地区、气候及品种、类型不同而异。另外由于其较耐寒,除北方对耐寒性较差的品种外,一般不需采取防寒措施。繁殖方法为扦插或嫁接。月季可种植于花坛、花境或草坪边缘,或作常绿树的前月季景,也可分类型、品种布置成月季园。月季花可入药。有些品种的花可提取香精。
