BEIJING, July 8 (Xinhuanet) -- ese Prime Minister has agreed to modify a draft on constitution reform to get support from other parties.
Abe says the ruling Liberal Democratic Party is willing to consider any suggestions on modification, if whichever party sees impropriety in the draft. He also pointed out the necessity of further discussing reforms to the constitution in order to inform more Japanese citizens.
On Saturday, leader of New Komeito Natsuo Yamaguchi said he was firmly against exercising the right of collective self-defence.
Japan’s constitution, which was drawn up in 1947, forbids the government from starting any wars to solve international conflicts and from exercising the right of collective self-defense.
But the LDP has been seeking to modify the constitution since its adoption in 1955, to develop its self-defence forces into a regular national military.
