BEIJING, April 27 (Xinhuanet) -- A fire has destroyed a psychiatric hospital on the outskirts of Moscow. killing 38 people, including two nurses.

41 people were believed to have been in the building when the fire broke out - 38 patients and three staff. A nurse managed to save two patients and they were the only three to have survived. By the time firemen arrived, the entire one-story building was engulfed in flames.

The Emergency Situations Ministry says 12 bodies have been found so far. Four were found near the hospital exit, and eight in the wards.

Police say the fire was caused by a short circuit and broke out at about 2 am local time.
