The Beijing Mid-Autumn and National Day Lantern Festival has been held grandly in Beijing Garden Expo Park on September 14th, 2024. As the largest-scale lantern fair in the history of the capital city, it also represents the reappearance of the Zigong Lantern Festival in Beijing after a 36-year absence.
There are 9 thematic exhibition areas on site which include more than 200 groups of lanterns. Among them, there are 75 groups of large and medium-sized lanterns and 100,000 pieces of hanging lanterns. From September 14thto October 31st, the lights dazzle every day from 4:00 PM to 11:00 PM, offering a rare feast of culture and art in a captivating audiovisual experience.
About 70% of the lantern's theme is derived from Beijing's cultural and humanistic classics, which are tailor-made for Beijing. As one of the designers and producers of the lanterns, Haitian Lantern completed four large lantern sets totally. Among them, the "Immerse in the Light" lantern set is inspired by the fusion of the palace lantern culture and the architecture of the Forbidden City. The brick-red walls of the Forbidden City are solemn and auspicious, contrasting with the golden-glazed tiles. It also presents the resplendence and magnificence of the Forbidden City with intangible cultural heritage lantern techniques. Meanwhile, the combination of traditional building elements and palace lantern culture is rich and elegant, showing the auspicious atmosphere of the "Forbidden City in China's Festival" and highlighting the charm of history, culture and art.
