The earthquake in Chile was so powerful it jolted neighboring countries including Bolivia and Peru. While the region is prone to tremors many locals say Wednesday's quake was one of the most terrifying they had ever experienced.

"The jolt was very powerful. When I sat down, I felt my surroundings including the curtains were shaking. This quake was stronger than the last one. I heard buildings cracking and then I checked my department immediately." A Bolivian resident said.

"We were in an elevator. Because the earthquake was so strong we got off and walked down the stairs." A Bolivian resident said.

"I was scared. I was on the street and didn't know what happened. I felt dizzy and realized there was an earthquake when I saw people running out of buildings."A Peruvian resident said.
