BEIJING, Nov. 19 (Xinhuanet) -- Policemen in Paris are hunting what they believe is a lone gunman, after he opened fire in the office of a national newspaper, gravely wounding a photographer.
The Paris prosecutor said the gunman opened fire in the lobby of the Liberation daily, on Monday morning. Less than two hours later, shots were fired at the headquarters of a major French bank west of Paris. And very soon after that, a gunman took a driver hostage nearby and made him drive to central Paris.
Monday’s events happened three days after a gunman threatened journalists at the BFM-TV news network. The prosecutor said that considering the four cases, they believe a single gunman is the most likely possibility.
The suspect is still at large and the motive for the attacks remains unclear. Authorities have increased security in all three places as well as media offices around Paris.
