BEIJING, Nov. 1 (Xinhuanet) -- At least 24 people have been killed and 87 others wounded in a series of violent attacks across Iraq.
The deadliest attack occurred in the northern Iraqi town of Tuz Khurmato on Thursday. Seven people were killed and some 45 others wounded in a suicide bombing that was coordinated with two other car bomb attacks. The ethnically mixed town in northern Iraq is part of the disputed areas claimed by Kurds, Arabs and Turkomans.
The Kurds want to incorporate the area at the edge of their current Kurdistan region, and their idea is fiercely opposed by the central government. Iraq is witnessing its worst eruption of violence in recent years. Almost six thousand Iraqis have died btween January and September this year.
