BEIJING, Oct. 29 (Xinhuanet) -- European lawmakers are in Washington to gather more information on the massive surveillance efforts by the US National Security Agency.

The lawmakers are meeting senior US government and intelligence officials in the three-day visit, to explore possible concessions from the US. They say trust across the Atlantic has been broken.

After meeting with House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Rogers, the European Parliament’s foreign affairs committee Chairman Elmar Brok, says counter-terrorism cooperation must continue, but that European privacy must be better respected. He stressed that failure to resolve the crisis would affect negotiations over a US-Europe trade agreement.
