BEIJING, Sept. 16 (Xinhuanet) -- There’s been a major bus accident in southwest China’s Sichuan province. The bus carrying 24 people collided with a truck and fell off a bridge into a river in Sichuan’s Quxian county on Sunday.

16 people are known to have died so far, while 9 others were injured and have been sent to Quxian county’s People’s Hospital for treatment. After it fell off the bridge, the bus was covered by sand and stones which were being carried by the truck, leaving a number of people trapped. Authorities are looking into the cause of the accident.
