BEIJING, Aug. 12 (Xinhuanet) -- Supporters of ousted Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi are fortifying their sit-in sites in Cairo, as police are expected to start taking action against them.
Security officials said their forces would set up cordons around the protest sites to bar anyone from entering within 24 hours - perhaps as early as daybreak on Monday.
Egypt’s Interior Ministry said it would take gradual measures, and use water cannons and tear gas to minimise casualties.
The Muslim Brotherhood has criticised any plans to interfere with their right to protest.
More than 250 people, most of them Morsi supporters, have been killed in clashes since Morsi was ousted on July 3rd.
