BEIJING, Aug. 12 (Xinhuanet) -- Afghanistan's Interior Ministry has strongly condemned an attack on Chinese nationals in Kabul on Thursday, in which three people died.
Interior Ministry spokesman Sediq Sediqi said the police had begun investigating the case and would spare no efforts in bringing those behind the crime to justice. Sediqi highlighted the importance of providing security to foreigners.
Early on Thursday afternoon, unidentified armed men entered an apartment in the Qalai Fatullah area of Kabul, killing a Chinese man, two Chinese women and their Afghan guard. The attackers then abducted two other Chinese men, however one later managed to escape. The man was taken to the Chinese Embassy by US officials.
It remains unclear whether the victims were deliberately targeted. However, Afghan officials have ruled out terrorism as a motive.
