BEIJING, July 10 (Xinhuanet) -- ’s interim president has named liberal economist and former finance minister Hazem el-Beblawi as prime minister in a transitional government. The move comes as authorities try to steer the country to new parliamentary and presidential elections.
Adly Mansour has also appointed former UN nuclear agency chief Mohamed ElBaradei as vice president, responsible for foreign affairs.
The hardline Islamist Nour Party has approved Beblawi as new prime minister, but remains undecided over ElBaradei’s appointment.
