BEIJING, April 30 (Xinhuanet) -- The owner of the factory building that collapsed last week killing nearly 400 people appears in court on Monday.
The court issued an order for the owner to be held for 15 days "on remand" for interrogation. He was arrested on Sunday following a four-day manhunt. He will be interrogated on charges of negligence, illegal construction and forcing workers to work.
The illegally constructed, 8-storey building collapsed on Wednesday morning as thousands of people worked inside. Rescuers are now using heavy machinery to cut through the destroyed structure. Officials say they no longer expect to find any survivors.
