BEIJING, April 3 (Xinhuanet) -- The US is moving a sea-based radar platform closer to the Korean Peninsula to monitor the DPRK’s military activities, including possible missile launches. A Pentagon spokesman announced the US Navy had deployed an oil rig-like SBX-1 radar. A guided-missile destroyer, the USS Decatur, will also be deployed to join the USS John McCain on a missile defense mission.

Pentagon spokesman George Little said, "On the Decatur and the McCain, they have arrived at predetermined positions in the western Pacific, where they will be poised to respond to any missile threats to our allies or our territory. The SBX is undergoing scheduled sea trials. They are under -- the SBX is underway. They’re undergoing semiannual system checks. Decisions about further deployments have not been made to this point."
