Iran ready to respond to IAEA concerns
(Xinhua)   2013-03-06 10:43:03

BEIJING, March 6 (Xinhuanet) -- 's Foreign Ministry says the country will be ready to respond to the concerns of the International Atomic Energy Agency after an agreement is reached. An Iranian spokesman said last week's nuclear talks with 6 world powers could be a positive start to solving the years-long deadlock.

Ramin Mehmanparast, Spokesman, Iran’s Foreign Ministry, said, "We are optimistic about resuming the talks and the future of these negotiations, and we think that the recent change could be a positive start for reaching a reasonable framework. If this reasonable approach is followed completely, then it could lead to a mutually accepted understanding, and this is what we think will guarantee our rights and will ease the concerns of the P5+1 countries."

The spokesman also said Iran might consider direct talks with the US if they see a concrete change in the country’s approach, policies and behavior. The spokesman’s comments come after US Secretary of State John Kerry on Monday warned that the window of opportunity to reach a diplomatic solution to the Iran nuclear issue will not remain open indefinitely.

Iran said the must first agree on a framework in which there are clear references to Iran’s rights to peaceful nuclear activities. Iran would then offer a response to alleged concerns about its nuclear program.

The Parchin site has been the main concern of the agency since November 2011. Iran has previously refused to grant access to the site unless an agreement is reached on a structured approach for UN inspectors to look into Iran’s nuclear activities.
