BEIJING, Feb. 27 (Xinhuanet) -- China’s first Type 056 stealth frigate has been delivered to the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Navy in Shanghai.

The new frigate model features advanced weapon and control systems. It also requires only one-third as many crew members as its predecessor, the Type 053 needs. According to the PLA Daily, the new-generation frigate is expected to be deployed primarily for escort missions and anti-submarine operations.
