北窑旧石器遗址 今洛龙区为廛河乡北窑村西北一旧制砖厂取土工地处，是一处大型旧石器时原始聚落遗址，经1998年6月到9月的初步发所掘，发掘面积已达340平方米，出土石器650多件，化石若干和少量灰烬。这里连续迭压的不同土层均有石器发现，而且层次清晰，具有明显的连续性。得知是分属距今3万年至距今10万年之间的连续地层。洛阳的历史从北窑写起，洛阳的历史上溯到旧石器时代。黄土层中出土石器，不仅国内罕见，而在全球范围内也不多见。为南北石器文化交流问题的解决提供了重要线索。北窑遗址如能发现早期人类化石，将会被任命为“洛阳人”。遗址中心区也有待进一步发掘。
