生态习性 喜光,较耐阴。喜温暖湿润气候,具有一定耐寒性,对土壤要求不严,耐干旱瘠薄,微酸至微碱性土壤均能适应。生长势强,根系发达;耐修剪。

形态特征 落叶灌木,高达2m,老干树皮纵裂,嫩枝纤细,红褐色。单叶对生,卵形至椭圆状卵形,先端渐尖或短尖,基部宽钝或圆形,边缘疏生浅齿,背面脉间或基部密生白色柔毛;圆锥状聚伞花序较密集,花冠漏斗状,端5裂,白色至粉红色,芳香,萼片5,粉红色,花后宿存。瘦果状核果。

繁殖培育  
 
园林用途 园林中常植于草坪边、小径旁、林缘、池畔、山石旁,可于建筑物背面栽植,丛植于常绿树前更清楚动人。

产地分布 原产中国 浙江江西福建台湾湖北湖南四川广东广西陕西南部等省区。垂直分布海拔170~1000m。
