The present study explores the correlation between Chinese EFL learners\' creativity and their English metaphor production performance by examining their levels in creativity and metaphor production and by controlling their English language proficiency.

The Development of Metaphorical Competence in EFL Learnwes;

This paper attempts to illuminate the interrelations between metaphor,thoughts and language,probes into the necessity and feasibility of fostering English learners’ metaphor awareness and metaphorical competence,and explore a tentative teaching approach that conforms to the reform of College English teaching.

Based on the resemblance and contextuality of metaphor,along with metaphoric thought,this paper mainly explores the function of metaphoric competence and its construction on SLA,which will bring about the practical sense and applicable value to SLA.

The use of metaphoric language and the cultivation of metaphoric competence should also be regarded as the target of L2 acquisition.

The present dissertation reports an empirical study of the correlation between metaphoric competence and the English proficiency of the third-year Chinese EFL learners.
