【来源】
为苋科植物血苋的全草。
【植物形态】
血苋 多年生直立草本。茎紫红色，高1～2米。单叶对生；阔卵形至近圆形，长2.5～5厘米，先端深凹或2裂，基部近截形，稍下延成耳状，边缘波状，稍内卷，叶面稍卷曲不平，紫红色而有淡色的中脉及拱形的侧脉，有时叶脉呈绿色或暗绿色；叶柄长约3厘米。圆锥花序顶生或腋生，具柄；小花多数；苞片通常每花3枚；花被5裂，长约1.5毫米，白色或淡黄色；雄蕊5，花丝基部合生；柱头2～3枚。胞果不开裂。种子1颗。 生于田野或栽于庭园。分布福建、广东、广西等地。

苦微甘，凉。 ①《泉州本草》："淡微甘，性凉，无毒。" ②苦，凉。(福建)
【功用主治】
凉血，止血。治吐血，衄血，咳血，创伤出血，痢疾，痛经。 ①《泉州本草》："凉血，止血。治吐血，衄血，咳嗽带血，血气燥热。" ②治咳血，痢疾。(福建) ③《文山中草药》："舒筋活血，调经止痛。治月经不调，鼻衄，痛经，骨折。"
【用法与用量】
内服：煎汤，3～5钱(鲜者1～2两)；或捣汁。外用：捣敷。
【宜忌】
《泉州本草》："孕妇忌用。"
【选方】
①治吐血，衄血：鲜红木耳，每次一两，水煎泡乌糖服。(《泉州本草》) ②治咳嗽带血：鲜红木耳(单用叶亦可)，每次一两半至二两，合猪半赤白肉炖服。(《泉州本草》) ③治创伤出血：红木耳、冰糖各三钱，炖服。(福建) ④治痢疾：鲜红木耳叶一两，捣汁，调红糖服。(福建) ⑤治皮肤燥痒：红木耳全草或叶，每次二两，合猪肚油炖服。(《泉州本草》)
