中国唐代柳宗元的哲学代表作之一。收入《河东先生集》、《柳宗元集》。文章着重批判天能赏罚的唯心主义天命观，阐发天没有意志、是物质实体的观点。文中说："彼上而玄者，世谓之天；下而黄者，世谓之地；浑然而中处者,世谓之元气；寒而暑者,世谓之阴阳。是虽大，无异果蓏、痈痔、草木也。"指出天、地、阴阳与果瓜、草木等同样都是自然现象，是物质存在的不同形式。天没有意志，不能赏功罚恶，"功者自功，祸者自祸"。国家的兴亡衰盛,个人的贵贱祸福,与天根本不存在互相感应的关系。《天说》坚持唯物主义观点，阐述了天人关系的问题，但忽视人类认识和掌握自然规律的能动作用。
