所谓寡头，是指少数几家厂商控制整个市场产品的生产和销售的市场组织。90年代末期以来直到今天的中国经济史，大概是对这个定义最为贴切的诠释之一。中国经济的寡头格局，不仅在具有自然垄断的性质的通信、电力、金融等行业清晰可见，在竞争性的钢铁等行业表现得也同样明晰。与90年代炙手可热的俄罗斯寡头相比，中国的新型寡头虽然默默无闻，也不像俄罗斯寡头那样具有鲜明的人格化特征，但其对经济的影响和控制力则可能远甚前者。
